Richard (Dick) Winton
Celebrating the Field Accomplishments and Club Contributions of Dick Winton.

The Last Cast — Honoring Our Own, a Pioneer of Our Club
Copper State HRC has recently lost another of the pioneers of the club. Richard (Dick) Winton passed away in October at the age of 90. Dick was a very active member of Valley of the Sun Retriever Club that eventually morphed into Copper State HRC. Dick judged the Copper State Super Singles event a couple of years ago. Everyone seemed to enjoy his historic perspective on retrievers. As we know, the dogs haven’t changed, but our training methods have certainly evolved.
Dick spent several years traveling in his motor home to NAHRA hunt tests and enjoyed every minute – just to receive that fancy ribbon. Dick’s dogs, Magic and ‘T’, both achieved NAHRA’S highest title GMHRS. Dick was very committed to NAHRA and what that group stands for in retriever training.
Adios Dick – see you on the other side of the bridge!
