Stoneman Lake

During the Arizona summer months, when it is too hot to run dogs down in the valley, the club often holds training events up in the much cooler northern portion of our state.  The opportunity to do so is largely thanks to a private land owner in the Mormon Lake area, who has been kind enough to allow our club to hold many of our training days on their property.

Copper State Hunting Retriever Club (CSHRC) activities

It is important to remember that as guests of the area, every club member, and event attendee should:

  • Make every effort to not disturb local residents or livestock
  • Respect the natural habitat and facilities
  • Drive only on approved roads
  • Pick up any litter
  • Close and secure any opened gates

Always remember the golden rule:  “Take only pictures, leave only foot (paw) prints”.

Location and Directions

In an effort to reduce traffic opening and closing the land owners gates, as well as assist folks with finding the training location, we typically meet at a rest area that is at Stoneman Lake Road and FS 3 (Highway 487), and then caravan to the training location.

GPS: +34° 47.365', -111° 26.753'

Elevation: 7384 ft

  • If you are headed North on I-17, you can take the Stoneman Lake Rd Exit 306.
  • Turn right.  This will turn into a dirt road.
  • Follow the signs that point your way to FS3

The following link should be helpful in finding the meeting area:  maps.google.com/maps
